Immerse yourself in the art of portraiture with artist and expert guide, Damien Kurth. In this dedicated three-hour workshop, participants will delve into a single, sustained pose, transforming a blank canvas into a captivating likeness.

Damien will guide artists through the essential fundamentals of painting from life, unlocking the secrets to capturing not just features, but the unique character of the subject.

Whether you're an absolute beginner or a practicing artist, this one-off workshop is a shared learning opportunity for all.

The session will focus on user-friendly techniques for mastering proportion, colour, brushwork, and composition, primarily using oil or acrylic paints. After a brief introduction to materials, participants will enjoy ample painting time, supported by both group demonstrations and individualized guidance from Damien.

All materials will be supplied.

Damien is a longstanding and highly regarded collaborator of The Incubator. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Otago Polytechnic and Master of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Arts. Damien is also our tutor for our monthly Bare Minimum Life Drawing Group.
