Join us for the Restoration Ramble, a guided walk through the beautiful l'Anson Bush Reserve as part of the Young at Heart Festival. Led by Forest & Bird New Zealand, and The Friends of I’Anson Bush reserve this walk will explore the incredible transformation of the reserve from pastureland to thriving native bush.

Enjoy a relaxed stroll that highlights environmental restoration and the successful conservation efforts at l'Anson Bush Reserve. You'll experience a tranquil picnic spot and the picturesque Lake Taki, formed by the damming of the Waikaraka Stream. As we circle the lake and wander through a lush grove of native trees, our knowledgeable guide will share insights into the local flora and fauna and the significance of restoration projects.

Forest & Bird played a crucial role in the initial plantings, transforming the area into the flourishing landscape you see today. The ongoing maintenance and nurturing of the reserve are now carried out by the dedicated Friends of l'Anson, who continue to ensure its ecological well-being.

This reserve is a testament to community involvement in conservation, having been gifted to the Queen Elizabeth II Trust in 1987 by the generous Keith and Takiko I’Anson. Their vision lives on in this vibrant natural habitat.

Whether you're an avid nature enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful walk in a beautiful setting, this event promises to inspire and inform. Don't miss the opportunity to connect with nature and learn about the vital importance of ecological restoration.
