Help us put 4500 plants in the ground in the biggest urban wetland reserve in New Zealand on Sunday 29 September between 9.30 and 12.30. The holes will already be dug on flat land, so all you'll need is a spade, closed shoes, water to drink and hi-viz if you have it. There be a sausage sizzle to thank you for your efforts.
This is a Rotary event, part of a long-term project in partnership with the City and Regional Councils and Ngai Tamarawaho. The Bay of Plenty Regional Council, Power Co. and Gate Pa school have funded or provided the plants.
Once the kete kai (food basket) of Ngai Tamarawaho hapu, the Kopurererua Valley (K Valley) has a rich history and ecology. Its 360 hectares are very popular with walkers and cyclists and the valley is a great shortcut, avoiding rush hour traffic, if you're biking between Greerton, Parkvale, Gate Pa and the City and Tauriko, Bethlehem and Otumoetai.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
