The Pacific Easter Basketball Tournament was renamed to the Mel Young Easter Basketball Classic tournament to commemorate the life of Mel Young who sadly passed away in 2015.

The Tauranga City Basketball Association will again host this event on behalf of Basketball Pacific during the long weekend of Easter 18-21 April in Tauranga. There will be over 130 teams competing at the tournament using six different venues to accommodate this many teams. The playing age of the boys and girls taking part in the tournament range from 9 – 19. Plus, a women's grade has been added for 2025.
