The BOP Young Grower of the Year is an annual event celebrating the region’s top young horticulture professionals. Contestants compete in practical and theory-based challenges that test their skills, knowledge, and leadership in the horticulture industry.
Come along and watch top young growers go head-to-head for the Bay of Plenty Young Grower 2026 title!
During the competition contestants complete a series of practical and theoretical challenges, deliver speeches, and showcase leadership skills.
The general public is welcome to attend the competition in the day.
Daytime viewing of the competition is free, while tickets for an awards dinner later in the evening need to be purchased separately to attend. At the awards dinner the regional winner is announced.
The event is organised by the Bay of Plenty Young Grower Upskilling Committee and NZKGI, supported by sponsors.
The event is important as the competition highlights the region’s horticultural talent, encourages professional growth, and prepares the regional winner for the national Young Grower of the Year competition.
