The SBNZ (Skateboarding New Zealand) 2026 National Championships will unite New Zealand’s top and aspiring skateboarders in a celebration of skateboarding culture.

Last year we ran all three disciplines - Park, Street and Vert - in Mount Maunganui. This year, for the first time, we’ll be splitting the event across two locations. The Street competition will take place in Auckland, whilst the Park and Vert competition returns to Mount Maunganui for a second year. Both the Park and Vert disciplines showcase skateboarding at its most progressive and high-flying, where speed, control, and style meet athletic performance.

The Park competition will feature flowing lines, transitions, and technical tricks, while Vert will highlight the country’s best halfpipe skaters pushing the limits of amplitude and precision. Together, Park and Vert represent the performance side of skateboarding, blending competitive energy with the creative freedom that defines the sport. These events not only crown the 2026 National Champions, but also serve as a key qualifying opportunity for future international and Olympic pathways.

The competition is open to all ages and skill levels. There is a cost to compete but spectating is free! Spectators can expect a weekend of world-class skating, music, and culture - celebrating the growth of skateboarding as both an art form and a sport in Aotearoa.

See you there!
