Celebrate Matariki with us at the Little Big Markets on Friday 10 July 2026 through a range of interactive experiences for the whole whānau to enjoy.
Step inside our immersive Star Dome Observatory, a 360-degree indoor digital planetarium featuring presenter-led sessions exploring the stars and the significance of Matariki. Sessions are 15–20 minutes long with space for up to 30 people per session.

We’ll also be hosting Manu Horewai traditional kite-building workshops with Jack Thatcher, open to all ages with no registration required. These interactive sessions provide an opportunity to learn about the traditions and stories connected to traditional Māori kite making.
