Climate action comes from all corners of our community, and this evening celebrates the voices leading the way. Seven emerging changemakers will share their journeys and the meaningful work they are leading across the Bay of Plenty, from community projects to environmental initiatives, demonstrating creativity, dedication, and real impact.

The evening will start with drinks and nibbles before the speakers take the stage, offering insights into the projects and ideas shaping the region’s climate action. This is a chance to be inspired, connect with passionate changemakers, and discover ways to contribute to a more sustainable future.

Speakers of the Night:

• Kaewa Savage – Master of Health Science (Māori Health); thesis on reconnecting whānau to whenua for the health of te taiao and our people
• Maya Blackman – Head Girl, Western Heights High School; Race Unity Speech Award winner
• David Pickering – Marine Biosecurity Officer and Scientific Diver
• Karlia Taylor – Environmental Science and Geography Student, Victoria University Wellington
• Tay Ririnui – Environmental Engineering student and Climate Ambassador alumni, University of Waikato; Associate Trustee, Ranginui No. 12 Trust
• Matilda Thomas – Bachelor of Climate Change student, University of Waikato; recipient of the Toi Moana Climate Change Scholarship (BOPRC), Student Sustainability and Climate Change Support at the Waikato Regional Council
• Te Aorangi Ngawaka – Assistant Project Manager at TSA Riley; studying Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Planning
