New Zealand sits on one of the most active plate boundaries in the world. That means we live with the reality that a large earthquake and tsunami may occur within our lifetime. But the good news is that there’s a lot we can do to keep each other safe. Join experts and emergency managers to talk as a community about what the next big earthquake and tsunami could look like and what you can do to prepare together.

Why come along?

  • You’ll feel more confident - learn what to expect and how to look after the people and places you care about.
  • You’ll feel more connected - come and see that you’re not alone. Others care too. We’re stronger when we work together.
  • You’ll feel more informed - discover the latest science broken down in a way that you understand

What to expect?

  • A short talk about what science tells us
  • Real examples of what an large earthquake and tsunami could look like in your area
  • Easy tips for preparing your home, family, and workplace
  • Time for open discussion
  • A chance to meet others in your community and learn from each other

There’ll be plenty of time for your questions, so we can talk about it now, before the shake!
