Rockys Backyard Ultra returns to McLaren Falls on December 6, 2025!

A backyard ultra is a unique ultramarathon format where runners must complete a 6.71km loop every hour, on the hour, until one runner remains. The catch? Finish each loop within the hour - or you're out. Whether you're chasing a personal best, looking to push your limits, or just keen to experience the magic of a few loops, this event is for you.

Our course winds through stunning trails alongside Lake McLaren, featuring waterfalls, native bush, and - if you make it far enough - glowworms lighting your way into the night. With 140+ metres of elevation per loop, Rockys is a physical and mental challenge set in one of the Bay’s most beautiful spots.

Note: this is a self-supported event, so bring whatever you need to keep going. That said, there'll be freebies, snacks, electrolytes, and water stations thanks to our awesome sponsors - so you won’t be completely on your own.
