The national primary schools kapa haka competition is coming to Tauranga Moana! From 2 – 7 November 2025, Mercury Baypark Arena will come alive with the voices, movement, and spirit of kapa haka. This national competition brings together thousands of tamariki from kura kaupapa, kura Māori, and mainstream schools across the country, showcasing the beauty of te reo Māori and the vibrancy of haka, waiata, poi, and mōteatea.
Event-goers can enjoy:
- Incredible performances from the best young kapa haka groups in the country.
- Stalls with food and merchandise, perfect for exploring between performances.
- Tamariki zones with fun, interactive activities for younger visitors.
- Designated kaumātua area, ensuring comfort and manaakitanga for all.
For many tamariki, this is their first time standing on a national stage, an experience that will shape them for life. For whānau, it’s a moment of immense pride and joy. For the wider community, it’s a chance to witness the brilliance of our rangatahi Māori, standing strong in their culture.
Join us at Mercury Baypark Arena, and be part of the movement that uplifts, inspires, and celebrates our tamariki mokopuna.
