The first week of The Incubator July school holiday programme celebrates Matariki with a selection of classic Kiwi films at our boutique Village Community Cinema.

A film dear to many hearts, WHALE RIDER is an Oscar nominated Aotearoa film based on Witi Ihimaera’s novel of the same name. An intimate story about family, legacy and tradition, the story is set at the East Coast town of Whāngārā, and tells the tale of Pai (Keisha Castle-Hughes), who challenges tradition and embraces the past in order to find the strength to lead her people forward.
