EXPIRED

Some objects are worth slowing down for. A favorite mug. A well-worn tool. A small keepsake from a trip or a person. In this workshop, you’ll bring one object that has a bit of meaning for you—nothing grand required, just something you’d like to spend time with on canvas.

Guided by artist Damien Kurth, you’ll learn practical techniques for working in oils or acrylics: setting up a composition, mixing colors, capturing light and shadow, and building up paint to create depth. The focus is on seeing clearly and painting honestly.

With Damien Kurth

All skill levels welcome. All basic materials supplied. Just bring with you your special small/medium sized object—an heirloom, a souvenir, a gift, or simply a thing you’ve always liked looking at.

Damien is a longstanding and highly regarded collaborator of The Incubator. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Otago Polytechnic and Master of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Arts. Damien is also our tutor for our monthly Bare Minimum Life Drawing Group.
