This isn’t your typical night at the theatre. Shot Bro – Confessions of a Depressed Bullet is an unflinchingly honest, unexpectedly funny, and deeply moving experience, born from one man’s journey through the darkest of places.
In 2009, award-winning actor and writer Rob Mokaraka was shot in the chest by police during a mental health crisis. From that trauma and therapy came this powerful solo show. A raw, authentic blend of theatre, seminar, personal storytelling, and healing.
Dark, funny, and real, Shot Bro uses humour and humanity to open tough conversations around depression, suicide, and survival. Presented during Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, it offers a space for connection, healing, and kōrero.
After the performance, stay for a warm and welcoming forum, where there’s a chance to talk, reflect, ask questions, or simply share a cuppa and kai that we provide with mental wellbeing resources to take home. No judgement, no pressure – just connection.
Free, accessible, and open to all, Shot Bro has travelled to prisons, military bases, marae, colleges and communities across Aotearoa, offering hope and a powerful reminder: you are not alone.
