Discover how every part of our environment, from backyards to forests, rivers to harbours — is connected, and how you can make a difference!
Pā Ropata (Rob McGowan) will introduce the Tīwaiwaka movement, sharing urgent principles for caring for the whenua.
Sam Rowland, environmental champion and director of Think Like a Forest, will introduce the movie screening.
Prof Chris Battershill (University of Waikato) will explore marine ecological areas and corridors, while Rose Riley from Space For Nature will show how your own backyard can support biodiverse habitats and connect ecological corridors.
Plus, Louise Saunders will share insights into the Tīwaiwaka 16% Club and its practical Action Plans, so you can get involved and take action in your own community.
Brought to you by Western Bay of Plenty District Council (WBOPDC) in partnership with Tīwaiwaka, and part of Envirohub’s Climate Action Festival Week, this event is all about connection at every level. We encourage you to bring someone new who might not usually attend environmental events, learn, get inspired, and see how your actions matter from land to sea!
