We are delighted to invite you to a special exhibition of work by local printmaker, and busy Art Teacher at Ōtūmoetai College; David Henderson.
This collection features a curated selection of David’s woodblock and bamboo prints, created over the past five years. Each piece captures the breathtaking beauty of New Zealand’s landscapes, born from a deep appreciation for the printmaking process itself.
David is a printmaker based in Arataki on the Mount Maunganui coastline. Hence the topic - Pressed by The Sea. He works primarily in the intricate method of woodblock reduction printing.
His artistic journey began during his BFA studies in Dunedin, where he developed a passion for carving and the unique surprise of pulling each print from the block.
When not in the studio, David can often be found surfing, spending time in and around the water that inspires much of his work. His prints beautifully capture the ocean's constant movement and shifting nature through masterfully layered marks and finely carved lines.
We hope you can join us to celebrate this collection of carefully curated work.
