We are delighted to present 'All about the Chair' an exhibition taking upcycling to the next level. Participants include a collective of Northern Health School students, staff and the friends from extra agencies such as the Maternal Infant Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Gender Dynamix. Unwanted and unloved chairs have been gathered and dispersed to all participants allowing them the freedom to upcycle and create a new version of the old chair.
Participants involved have a range of artistic skills from very little to very talented.
Some have selected to allow the chair to still be used as a workable piece of furniture while others have taken their creativity up a notch and built on and around the chairs to create works of art to just be admired.
The purpose of this exhibition is to allow participants the opportunity to have the freedom to express themselves and experience the essence of a real exhibition where they can exhibit their work.
The ages of the participants range from 6 - 65. The focus has been on learning and developing a range of skills, problem solving and creating a chair masterpiece worthy of being exhibited.
Exhibition opening preview sponsored by New World Gate Pā, Friday 18 July 2025 at 5.30pm. Refreshments will be available. Everyone welcome.
