Come and enjoy a fun, inclusive playground experience at the Tauranga Waterfront Playground, designed for children of all abilities!
As part of Children’s Day 2026, we’re creating a calm, supported space for our disabled and neurodivergent community to play freely. Some families find busy playgrounds stressful, so this is a chance for children to explore, run, and have fun without worry.
The playground will be temporarily fully fenced and fully accessible, featuring inclusive play equipment such as swings with harnesses, wheelchair-accessible ramps and platforms, and sensory play elements. The playground also provides access to the accessible changing facility. Staff will be on hand to ensure everyone can enjoy the space safely.
Invitations have been sent to Tauranga Special School and other disability providers, and the playground will remain open to the wider community. We kindly ask all visitors to be mindful and respectful during this time, so every child can enjoy play in their own way.
This event is in association with Children's Day 2026, brought to you by Tauranga City Council.
Please note: there will be a photographer and videographer present on the day capturing content for social media and marketing purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let us know when you see us.
